Yet another headlight problem, sorry.
Working with an 83 C10, 305, 2wd.
Just got 4 replacement headlight housings off ebay to replace the sealed beams. Put in H4 bulbs, bent the center tab back to plug in the lower light plug. Here is my question/problem. Low beams: top light, bright, lower light, very dim. High beams: top goes dim, lower light gets brighter. I am leaning toward the relay upgrade kit. I would like to wire the lower light to come on with the high beam element when on high beam, too. Does this make sense? It did before I typed it. |

Re: Yet another headlight problem, sorry.
is it the original wiring or did you splice the wire in
maybe the reason ones dim when you switch is that bought lights might be running( let say on the top lights) so when you switch instead of one turning on and the other off the both turn on and are lacking problems sorry if i confused its late...

Thanks, frog, little confused by your reply?? It is the original wiring. Actually they are 4 headlights upgraded from the sealed beams just so I can have removable bulbs. When I have time, I am going to check voltage. Just seems weird to me.

Re: Yet another headlight problem, sorry.
I had the same thing happen in my 81. The factory headlight connector was corroded and wasn't making good contact with the h4 connector. I cut the factory connector off and soldered the h4 adapter on. An HD relay harness wouldn't hurt either.

Going to run a jumper wire from the battery to the the nearest headlight and see if that makes a dif. Since the headlights are in series, both will be effected. Fingers crossed. |
