Front Drive Shaft Slip Yoke
The search feature doesn't seem to be working at the moment. I'm wondering if the slip yoke on the front drive shaft is supposed to come all the way off. I only get about 1/2 inch of movement out of mine.
Thanks. |

Re: Front Drive Shaft Slip Yoke
Mine came all the way out on my longbed truck. I'm not sure on the shortbeds though.

Re: Front Drive Shaft Slip Yoke
On trailing arm trucks the slip doesn't move much, so dirt and rust can make the slip hard to move outside its normal range of movement.
As long as where it slides freely it doesn't have any lateral play (torsional play is ok) you should be ok. Are you chasing a vibration, changing ujoints, just inspecting? Mark everything if you start taking it apart. The yokes are timed and the shaft is ballanced as an assembly from the factory. Any deviation and you will have a vibration that will tear carrier bearings up quick. Posted via Mobile Device
