Introducing the 72 Longhorn, finally!

Just about done - waiting on the tailgate to get out of the paint shop. Here's the story on it: One owner 1972 one-ton Longhorn from California. A board member from NC flew out to Cali and drove it home a few years ago. He robbed the truck of the A/C cab, big block, tilt, tach etc. for a SWB build. I then bought the frame, bed and all paperwork and legal stuff from him and rebuilt her back to enjoy life once again! Basically started with a rolling frame and built from there (adding a few goodies).

Really nice job JQ!. Lots of nice touches. Love the GM CB. Tremendous amount of work to put it back to what it once was, especially with what you started with. Super.

That thing is junk. Let me take it off your hands.

Would love to come back to your place and see what else you have sittin' around in the woods.

Great looking Longhorn. Love the period correct CB and the tissue dispenser. SWEET.

Your gas gauge reads the same as mine. I can't remember the last time I bought a whole tank of gas.

I love the blue/white two tones. Best factory paint combo by far, although I'm guessing some here might disagree...

Josh, I never knew you were the one that bought my old CB unit. You did buy it off ebay right, as mine had that red sticker above on the top just like the one in there. Good job on the truck. Trevor

What are your plans for it? Build a shortbed?

It's refreshing to see what you do to all your special trucks.

Re: Introducing the 72 Longhorn, finally!

Thanks for all the comments, guys. It means a lot!
Ledzepp - yes, this is the truck Donald got. I met him halfway between Alabama and N.C. and bought thte bedsides and frame.
Trevor - I did get the CB off ebay about a year ago. It's just in there for looks - no antenna.
Special-K - She's just a driver. I actually drove it to Lowe's today and got some lumber and blocks. The long term plan is to use it to trailer my 72 SWB Super to car shows. It will be while - the swb is still in a thousand pieces awaiting restoration.
Jeff - the SPID looks awesome in it!!
