2wd SWB with a TH350 should have the same driveshaft also.

Re: looking for 86 2wd swb 700R4 driveshaft
The long tail 350 is same as 700r? I know the short tail 350 drive shaft would need to be quite a bit longer. But also know trucks came with long tail... unless I can get a good deal on one I found an awesome alternative.... P71 crown Vic(police Car) has a different driveshaft than all other Vics....its exactly 54.5 inches and aluminum and a 3.66 in diameter shaft. Seems like a no brainier to and I know just where To find one I mean they should be plentiful in scrap yards lol

Re: looking for 86 2wd swb 700R4 driveshaft
My truck had a 9" tailshaft TH350, and the driveshaft worked perfectly with the 700R4. If you could get a CVPI driveshaft, that would be perfect.

Agreed and what a valuable find for the short box community! A lightweight performance driveshaft that bolts right up... plus works for a t56 swap. as long as I can find adapter u joints

Where are you measuring it at? Would it make a difference if you had the T56 Yoke? BTW, you should be able to find your conversion U-joint at NAPA.

Re: looking for 86 2wd swb 700R4 driveshaft
I'm measuring center to Center from t56 yoke pushed in tight to tranny to rear end yoke then subtracted an inch for what I need and center to center on driveshaft stationary yokes. I'm not worried about u joints these are actually outside clips on the Vic's shaft. I have a buddy that's a helicopter mechanic all he does is finicky aluminum stuff so ill check to see how he feels about shortening this driveshaft for me.

Re: looking for 86 2wd swb 700R4 driveshaft
Not sure about up there, but at the local driveshaft place here it runs about $80 to cut, shorten and balance a driveshaft, and $15 per u joint (if your buddy can't get it.)
BTW, I haven't forgotten your brother. My wife pretty much plans my weekends. I will get him some stuff coming though, I swear.

Re: looking for 86 2wd swb 700R4 driveshaft
I understand wife planning weekends too. She works evening and work days so my weekdays are shot... plus Saturday cause she works sat afternoon. And Sunday is family day so I get a couple hours sat morning to do what I want.... after breakfast with the family before noon. I'm trying to build my truck an hour and a dollar or traded part at a time LOL. So I completely understand.

Re: looking for 86 2wd swb 700R4 driveshaft
negative on my buddy shortening it.... he said aluminum moves an aweful lot. but i picked up a shaft from a 72 buick sylark, 350/350 and its 54 3/8 c-c on the joints. so i only say this to put the info out there that the shaft from a 72 skylark 350/350 is the same or with in 1/8 inch of most factory short bed trucks. now selling a nice aluminum driveshaft...55.5 in long 3.66 dia for you guys $50 plus the ride
