Split manifolds.. Bane of my existence

So the truck had an exhaust leak when I bought it, no biggie, replace the manifold gasket and we're good as new, right? NO! That was one pain in the ass job, i've even asked long time mechanics about replacing those manifold gaskets and all the did was talk about how big of a pain they were. So, I replaced them, took way more beer than I thought it would.. Less than a month later I blow them out.. Need to replace them again before winter, this time I'm finding some one who knows what they're doing to help me

Front lower fender is from an old leaky battery I think. My truck has almost all the same rust as yours. I have to be careful on hot days or I'll burn my arm on the worn away rusty top of the door lol

LockDoc

This is over the next couple years, hopefully. (you know how projects go lol)

Tentative Schedule..

Before winter: Get brakes done, (all 4 corners, replace 2 leaky wheel cylinders, master cylinder, pads, and resurface hubs if they need it). Freshen up my rear end and transmission by replacing that old "Dinosaur goo" with full synthetic gear oil. new axle seals.

Spring 2013: Freshen up the front end. (I have been getting some unusual tire wear, I think my ball joints or wheel bearings could use a look over need a look over) Get some good shocks. Rear wheel bearings replaced as well. gotta get her rolling smooth as glass. Might even see if I can craigslist a swaybar

Summer 2013: Rims and Rubber! No use in spending money on expensive new tires when you're front end is just going to eat them up, I want to get ahold of some 8 lug chrome h2 hummer wheels, grab some bowtie center caps for them, and some nice big load range E's with an efficient tread pattern

Fall 2013: Temporary Small block swap, I need to get my straight 6 out so I can throw it up on a stand and start rebuilding it, I want to build it up for a small(ish) turbo charger

Winter 2013: Wrenching on my engine, building it to specs, saving up for all of my bolt ons and stronger internals

Spring 2014: interior work/trim piece hunting/ordering, misc body work

Summer 2014: hoping to have my turbo-250 swap completed by them

Fall 2014: possible drive train swap to increase fuel efficiency

Winter 2014: Save up for paint/body work, pull her in to my friends barn and hoist the bed/cab off and do as much as I can

2015: PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAINT!!!

Re: Big Six (finally uploaded pics!)

I plan on owning this truck for the rest of my life, it will see many stages of evolution over the years with what will eventually end in a diesel swap (if i have the money and decide i don't want to stay somewhat original). I am going for something functional yet timelessly classic. Old truck reliability with modern styling. I want chrome in the appropriate places, LED side markers, LED tail lights, HID headlights, LED interior lights, LMC a cargo light. I want to keep the bench seat, for various reasons . LED cab lights. I need to install a tow hitch, I don't like towing off the bumper of something with a wooden bed. New bright gauges, one of those fancy LMC digital radios

I still haven't decided if I want to go with the original color scheme (I do like the original blue on blue with white bumpers) But I have many ideas including: Cadillac pearl white with chrome and charcoal grey trim. Also, throwing some Cheyenne trim on it and sandwiching a vanilla ice cream off white between a darker shade of metallic green with chrome and wood trim.. I have a feeling I am goin to just murder it out until I have a couple thousand laying around for a nice paint job (for those of you who don't know, murdering out = flat black everything)
