need some help with my wiring for my 3 speed OD
I have a seven bolt saginaw 3 speed with OD. I wired it like this (from another member on here) and the OD is not kicking in.
mainly going off of this thread below http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=313886&page=2 I have looked at the factory wiring and the one on this page but I dont want to split the gears and have a million switches. just want something simple with one relay and one switch http://www.classictruckshop.com/club...over/drive.htm I'm trying to get this OD fixed before Crusin the Coast and really cant figure this thing out.

Re: need some help with my wiring for my 3 speed OD
When you power the solenoid and are driving fast enough, take your foot off the gas and give it about a good solid two seconds and you will see your tach drop significantly and then you are in OD. This is all assuming the solenoid works and the governor works. Also you have to make sure your lockout cable is pushed in , or that OD will never kick in.
To test the solenoid, by pass the ground to the body of the cab or engine and put the key in the on position. Hit the button for the solenoid and you should here a distinctive click. If you don't check your wiring, the solenoid, or the relay itself. |

Ok thanks for the help. I was hoping you would chime in. I think I'm not giving it enough time it kick in. I'll guess I'll drive it to work and see how it does

Also just checking, the way your diragram is, you only have one wire to the solenoid and one wire to the governor correct?

That's right, the governor is the ground and the hot to the solenoid.

Re: need some help with my wiring for my 3 speed OD
I have an issue with the governor, it won't ground. Anyone know the internal make up of the governor and how it comes off. I have the OD Solenoid grounded for now in order to use the OD. Would like it to work off of the governor at the proper RPM.
