Are there any regular cab dually picture threads?

I have seen a couple dually threads but most are crew cabs. I am looking for just RC. Lowered, lifted, or just factory. 2wd or 4wd. I have started to look for one and I think I may have found one to start with. It is a 2wd. Already thinking about lowering one if I get one.

Well then, in all seriousness, the way the truck is setup, the load you are hauling, the way you drive makes huge differences.

As mine sits, unloaded, a K30 with a SM465 (no overdrive) 4.11 gears, and 35" tall tires, 350 v8 and original carb I get roughly 12mpg, that is all wide open country driving probably 95% highway 5% city, and babying the throttle. Recently I made a 200mi round trip 70mph on the interstate with an empty trailer there, and then a 69 K5 Blazer and a bed full of parts on the trip home, I averaged 10.5 that day. A couple weeks ago I made another trip, about 100mi round trip to pick up a 71 C10, about 75% highway 25% city, I got right at 9mpg that trip.

I have had bad tanks too, 8mpg or so when I have used it around the farm a lot.

These numbers are all hand calculated, fill the tank to full, mark down the mileage on the odo. I do apply a 15% correction factor due to my taller 35" tires vs the tiny 30" tall stock tires that the odometer was calibrated to.

Also I noticed my mileage bump up about 1mpg when I went to the 35"s due to my highway driving and keeping the rpms down on the highway. If you did a lot of city driving, I'm sure you would have the exact opposite results.

I would guess a big block truck would be 2-3mpg less unloaded, and maybe just 1mpg or so less loaded.

Would converting over to a 6.0L FI engine make that big a difference in these trucks for mpg's? Not wanting to sidetrack the thread that much but just wondering.

That is the plan for my truck after I am done with my 67 (which is also getting a 5.3). Not so much for a MPG gain, but rather the power and reliability. I had the 6.0 in my 2001 2500HD and loved it, I had 5.13 gears and 38" tires, I routinely got 12-13 mpg (with the 4l80e overdrive), and dropped to about 10mpg towing heavy. Before it was lifted, when it was on 33s with 4.10s I got 16mpg a few times, but normally stayed around 15mpg, and got about 12mpg when towing in the mountains. And that truck weighed probably 1500lbs more than my dually.

Without overdrive, I don't see the 6.0 making a huge increase in mileage, maybe 1-2 mpg, but along with an overdrive transmission you would see better results.

I won't be going overdrive with my swap, as I want to keep my sm465, but the LS engine should be happier cruising along at higher RPMs for long periods of time.
