One Piece Steering Shaft
Did some of the 67-72 Chevy trucks have one-piece steering shafts? I have a one piece that I am almost positive I pulled off of a 67-72, but everything I'm reading on this site is about two piece shafts.

Should I look for a two-piece shaft instead of using this one piece? Are the two-pieces safer or better in any way?

I think 67-68 were one piece and didn't collapse. 69 and up were the newer style.

'69 sounds right for the change over and a telescoping steering shaft is mentioned in the '69 brochure. The advantage of the two piece telescoping shaft is the safety during collision. The shaft collapses over itself vs the "fencepost into the chest" imitation.

I think three on the tree trucks were one pieces too. most of them ive seen didnt look like a two piece but i could be wrong. If so i guess my truck would have fallen into the one piece steering shaft catagory. I changed recently to a two piece so that i could have a tilt column and for added safety
