Gauge panel oops

So let's say you've got your dash apart to replace the cracked instrument cover. You're looking around for something to clean the dust and grime from the gauge faces and you spot a spray bottle of Windex. DO NOT pick up the bottle. Who knew the stuff would remove the painted details from the gauge faces?
Glad I had Columbus Day off, because back to the junkyard I went.

Nah, just ignorance and impatience. Damp rag sure makes more sense now that I think about it. Thank God GM standardized parts across their lineup of trucks.

Re: Gauge panel oops

When i was putting my white face gauge overlays on, I cleaned the surface with rubbing alcohol and almost instantly i was smearing around the white paint off the original gauge face. good thing i was installing overlays anyways.

Not yet. They are still engineering something to either eat the bugs, work or tax them to death...
