Re: need your input: 69 c20 camper special

i didnt get a good shot of the buddy bucket, but it seems to be a one piece insert between the seats, shaped as a small seat. this didn't seem correct.

a few more pics

That was a helluva truck in its day, lots of options. Seats look redone but cool. Did you buy it?

Not sure about the seats. Are they in as good a shape as they look in the pics? A good set of factory buckets are worth $600-$800. Tell the wife thats as good as money in the bank.
Good luck.

Seats are not original, based upon the tilt adjustment lever I would say they came from a sedan...

Nicely optioned truck Rob....what is the (approx.) asking price the guys wants for it? I wouldn't go too high if its been sitting quite a while.
Any chance of starting it?....lots of issues with old gas in a truck sitting for years as well as a lot of internal 'sludge' build up with old oil sitting.
Good luck and keep us posted?

its one of those how much would you offer me deals. it used to be his sons that past away. he knows it worth a few bucks, compared to some of the newer trucks parked in the field.
what's a fair price to start with??

Need to check for rust.. With rust, you know the places, 5 or 6 hundred IMO. No rust, different story. Price goes up.

The seats are not original to our trucks and are probably not worth much...but if they look good and are comfortable I would just leave them.

The RPO Z49 is the equipment required for delivery and registration of a new vehicle in Canada. Don't have the equipment breakdown for you though. It did include a colder anti-freeze rating and more delivery gas, Canadian owner's handbook and warranty information among other things on Camaros.

If you really want the truck offer what you feel is fair and can pay. I think there is more than money involved here seeing the trucks history with the owners son. Have you been dealing on it for a while or just find it? Was it advertised?

Re: need your input: 69 c20 camper special

yep....definitely agree with Already Gone on this and IMHO a seller has to have an idea as to what they will take for the truck. This truck does not appear to run at the moment and may need considerable work to do so.
Given that the opening offer/bid (again IMHO) is less than a $1000 remember he can get $300-$400 for it at the scrap yard in steel weight alone...so its worth more than that I suppose...at least in parts.
Do you have a price in mind what you would like to pay?
Oh another thing...if you present what feels like a 'low' offer....be respectful about it and don't spend 1/2 hr prior dissing the truck. People that do that rarely win or walk away with anything of value and are definitely regarded as 'amateur' negotiators. If the seller is not going to financially gain much....at least you and he can feel positive about it when shaking hands, while you enjoy the benefit of a good deal.
My two bits.

Re: need your input: 69 c20 camper special

I think it's a pretty nice truck, despite the obvious rust. If it's only the holes in the rockers and not infested with rust - it's got to be a fairly rare find up there with out northern brethren. Option sheet is awesome - I'd gladly pay $1K for it if I was lookin for one. If not running and with the rust you've shown, I'd think the seller would be motivated to sell it.

Talk about fully loaded! Looks like a great truck with a few issues - if I had a garage and could rip it apart, I'd jump on it!

Keep us posted on your progress. I've been looking at/for a Custom Camper myself so if you decide you are not interested anymore or the seller wants more money that you are willing to pay please PM me as I wouldn't mind pursueing a deal on the truck.

thanks for the advice, i don't plan on doing a "low" offer. I know the family and they know my folks...it's not going to be one of those super sweet deals....like the 67 c20 a lady said i could have for free. just need to arrange to get the keys this weekend and then tow it home.

i seen this truck last year parked under the trees in their back yard. thought it belonged to someone in a large apartment building, but asked around and found out who owned the truck. turns out i know the family, so we will see how the deal goes.

Re: need your input: 69 c20 camper special

I'm a little surprised about the comments about how loaded and well optioned this truck is. Don't get me wrong, its fairly well optioned but many of the options are things that weathered away (tires, battery, wiring, and the can package) or just appearance things like the badge, edge guards, and chrome bumper which probably have wear and aging. Aside from PS, auto, and 350, we're not looking at "heavy" options like BBC, tach, tilt, buckets, AC, towhooks, etc. Still a good find, my point is don't pay extra for the options, but base the value on condition of body/chassis.
