Question Energy Suspension 4" lift 72 GMC

I have a 72 GMC K1500 with the 4 " lift on front and 3 " on back ; Suspension Lift, 4WD, 4.0 in. Front/3.0 in. Rear, Chevy, GMC, K/V-Series Pickup, Kit
I really wish it was like 3 and 3 or 3 and 2 ... Can i take a leaf or two out and would that lower it back down a little ??? Or is that a no, no ?

Re: Energy Suspension 4" lift 72 GMC

looks like it higher than 4 inches

Im not a fan of real high lifts either, yours looks pretty good like that though.

Im not familiar with energy leaf springs, google search I couldnt find them , just bushings

I know you weren't looking for compliments here, but your truck is beautiful as-is. Real nice!

Re: Energy Suspension 4" lift 72 GMC

It's sitting on an angle, so it's difficult judge, but it looks fairly level front to back. Is it not?

Re: Energy Suspension 4" lift 72 GMC

I would not recomend taking a leaf out to lower it. That will really mess up the handling ability of the spring.

I am wanting to lift a sub just a couple inches as well and it seems the best choice is a new k20 or k30 spring and maybe a 1" block. U could have a spring built with the exact dimensions u want as well. Lots of people have been happy with the soft or easy ride springs up front. They are said to be pretty good ride.

I think a new spring that has 3 leafs like. K20/30 would get u where u want to be height wise.

My .02

Nice pickup. Like the color. Keep us posted on your progress

How many leaf's are in your front pack? If there are 4 or 5, I would remove one or two to try and lower it a bit. The stock set up was only 2 or 3 springs.
Oh, and that's a sweeeet looking truck.

Re: Energy Suspension 4" lift 72 GMC

How long has the lift been on? The springs will usually settle after you put some miles on it. Block the rear til the front settles or just put a big block in it

Beautiful truck, hope mine looks that nice.

Re: Energy Suspension 4" lift 72 GMC

yes 33 -12.50 and the kit has been on for months but have not been able
to drive her but around the block , it has a steering issue and i put all new
front end parts , tie rods , etc ... still a lot of play or might just decide to run
off the road .. i believe after reading a lot on this forum it is a common thing
for these trucks once jacked up ...i going to try the Dana 60 Crossover Steering and High Steer Kits..
http://offroaddesign.com/catalog/Dana60crossover.htm
another 500.00 in parts ... but someday
she will be finished and run the roads ... thanks for the insight and comps ...

Re: Energy Suspension 4" lift 72 GMC

Did you check the gear box.? Being so old they get whore out and it might be time for a new box.
Looks like you could fit 35s on there pretty easy, I have a 2.5" lift with 33s.

Im kind with this person.. I think it looks pretty awesome actually. Has an agressive stance. I usually dont go for the lean like that too often, but in this case, it looks pretty rad.

Hopefully you can find some joy in it until you can get a level, shorter, kit..
