WIRING PROBLEM? help plz

ok I have had this problem with my 70 since before i bought it, I have been dreading putting it on here cuz i feel dumb that i havent figured it out by now, anyways when I press on my brake pedal my brake lights work obviously... but the pedal also brings my front turn lights on, both with headlights on or off, always does it always super bright. Anyone had this problem before? no keep in mind there was a lil bit of a mess with the trailer wiring/ rear end wiring but me and my dad cleaned it up I believe it isnt a problem with the rear wiring now since i fixed it, but im not sure... help please?

Re: WIRING PROBLEM? help plz

Sounds like it could be a ground problem. A bad ground will cause weird problems. Try cleaning all your grounds first. Chris

Re: WIRING PROBLEM? help plz

Check to see if the hazard button is pushed in and replace the hazard flasher. Same problem in this thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=544891

Re: WIRING PROBLEM? help plz

Before you go to the trouble of posting a vid check the hazard button, the front and rear circuits are normally isolated from one another unless the hazards are on (4 way flasher).

bump, does anyone have any other suggestions? i know the hazard button works, and the flasher seems fine because the turn signal does flash

Take a close look at the front and rear lights and make sure you aren't seeing the tail lights and the front parking lights. If you had a short between one of the rear brake light wires (yellow or green) and the brown tail light wires then when you applied the brakes the four tail and parking lights would come on as well as the brake lights.

No because the brightness is due to the size of the filament and it's resistance.
Those don't change. You would have to apply more voltage to increase the brightness and the voltage is constant unless resistance increases. I.G. Ohms law.

Try selecting a left or right turn when you put on the brakes. Do it with the key off and then on. If you are getting front turn signals, and no tail lights just the bright brake lights then the TS switch is what I suspect.

You can also disconnect the half moon connector on the steering column and jump the white wire from the brake light switch, to the yellow and green wires, then apply the brakes. If the front lights don't come on then the problem is in the TS switch. The white wire is hot when the brakes are applied so you won't need the key. Be sure you do the jumping on the fuse panel side of the connector and not the steering wheel side.
