Sure enough,I forgot the camera.
and saw what is probably the wildest idea for a 67-72 in a while. It was a longbed, but they cut the cab off above the windshield and at the back of the floor. Then they remved the front of the bed and trimmed the bed floor back from the front. Then they shortened the whole thing. The front of the bed was where the door hinges would normally be.It was apretty beat example of a truck but they managed to make a rat cruiser out of what they had.It was primered with a rusty floor but they were cruisin and having a blast. The tailgate was open and it had buckets so they could go between them to get in.It actually looked pretty decent except for the front of the bed doesn't exactly match the rear of the front fender.
BTW it was also a GMC.

Re: Sure enough,I forgot the camera.
weird... The doors are a few feet wide, so even with a longbed, if the front of the bed was lined up with the back of the front fender... that's a heck of a short wheel base?

Re: Sure enough,I forgot the camera.
Same concept except for the one I saw was a rat and built from what looked to be a junker otherwise. The wheelbase looked shorter than a Blazer but it's hard to tell without the doors.Seems like a good way to put stuff that normally wouldn't get used into something fairly cool.

Re: Sure enough,I forgot the camera.
I have thought of doing this before....I like it although i'd have to still have functioning doors or my wife wouldn't ride in it

Re: Sure enough,I forgot the camera.
Is that a good or a bad thing?

Re: Sure enough,I forgot the camera.
Hmmm, there ARE plenty of cheap LWBs around here.... Been lookin for a reason to attempt some major fab work. I like it rough. A pair of buckets and you could use the rear gate to get in if you wanted. Again, Hmmm.

Re: Sure enough,I forgot the camera.
BMERDOC,that's exactly what they did.It was lowered with a rear axle flip and cut coils in front(GMC with leafs). It was a big but doable step up to the bed. This one would have required a tetnus shot to drive much, but the outside was in flat Black primer.
