How's it hang? (sport bumper)
what is the angle of a correctly fitted sport bumper? my license plate box was bent out from towing an over loaded trailer. I am refurbishing the tow-bar and up dating it with a receiver. The reciever stuck out to far so I gota do adjustment. I am not sure exactly what angle the bumper is.I want to se some pics of a correctly mounted sport bumper. thanks..Mr.Magoo

Re: How's it hang? (sport bumper)
Think you need to step back and rethink this project. From what I can see in the pictures you likely have a Class 2 hitch. I had one of these on my Suburban and they work fine within limits. A period catalog shows this to be a 3500/250 load rating. Does 5/8 x 2 1/2" sound about right for the old bar tongue? Does the center bar extend forward to a similar size flat stock cross bar? Did it get bent as well? This is a dead weight hitch and not remotely designed for the loads you are adding. Plugging any sort of receiver into the added box is just going to add more twisting and bending loads to an already damaged weakened hitch. It will also add more load to your bumper. If you want a receiver type hitch then please use a full hitch with a torque box tube and not the bumper taking the load.
