67 GMC thinking of painting grill blackany pics out there ?

67 1/2 long bed 2wd, originaly painted white grill / bumpers. Thinking of painting grill black to match truck body and swapping painted bumpers for chrome, seeing if there is any pics out there before I drop the time/$$ However I do think it will look sweet.

I don't have a black grille in a black truck picture, but I've seen them matched to body color and they look pretty good, since they really are part of the sheetmetal with no real division. I kinda think it would look good painted argent. It seems I've seen some stock ones that way,as well as white.

Re: 67 GMC thinking of painting grill blackany pics out there ?

Body color grills tend to get lost on the GMC front ends. Even more so with dark colors. There is a solid bright yellow truck here on the board but I do not have a picture of it. My suggestion would be to use the '72 style black mask with the chrome bumper on a black truck. This way there is some definition but still a lot of black. Below are two pictures a '72 brochure clip showing the stock paint job and a Jimmy with a black nose and polished highlights. If you don't want to use a chrome grill a bright silver and semi-gloss black powder coat would look very similar to chrome and be bug resistant.

Tim,his is a '67 and it sounds like he wants to do something with the painted grille he already has. I think the idea is for the grille to get lost, like on a 67/68 Chevy where the grille is an integrated part of the body with openings.

yup , just want people to see(notice) the big GMC letters & the headlights coming at them. already have a 2-3 drop lined up, some peep mirrors, roll pan for rear to shorten truck up but still have a real uasable man size bed.

If you want to body color match,I think a roll pan up front looks good. Doesn't help when bumpin sumpin, tho . Could always do a custom nerf bumper in front of that...or paint the stock bumper to match.

I found one black truck and some others:
