make a 1969 GMC rad support out of a chevy?
I was under the impression I could cut the buckets off my old GMC radiator support and tack weld them onto a chevy radiator support. Don't know why I think this, but a vendor at Hershey told me it wasn't possible and I was misinformed. Am I?

I believe It needs to be out of a 67-68 Chevy to use on a GMC of all years (67-72). Maybe even just out of a a 67 Chevy. But not 100% sure on that one.

Re: make a 1969 GMC rad support out of a chevy?
On 67/68 Chevys the headlights are already where the outer ones are on a GMC,so you only have to deal with the inners. You could use a 69-72 Chevy support, but it's more work. A lot more work IMO. It's all too much work if you ask me. Maybe that's what the vendor meant, because a true car guy can do anything with enough effort. But,I just wouldn't bother with this. Why not repair a rusted one using a Chevy donor? I know I was given a 1/2 done GMC core support where someone started and never finished. I think they were trying to make a 67/68 Chevy support from it. I just welded the lights back in.

My '72 GMC rad support was rotted in the usual spot... right below the battery. I just got some 16 or 18 gauge sheet metal and cut, bent and fabbed up the metal to make my stock one work.
