Updated info on AD 1/2 ton vs 1-1/2 ton nose pieces
I did a bit of research in my pile of parts today and figured out a few things that might help some folks and save some headaches for others.
The question came up on another board this morning about the interchange between 1/2 ton AD hoods and fenders and 1-1/2 ton AD hoods and fenders. I went out to the stash and here is what I figured out. This is my 48 with it's regular hood on it ![]() Note the curve at the back of the hood and the top of the fenders being fairly flat. This is the same truck with a 1-1/2 ton hood sitting on it. ![]() No way is that going to work. look at the back corner and you can see that it is all together different along with the hood being longer. here on my 1-1/2 ton you can see that the fender is higher and fits way closer to the heater louvers. ![]() 1-1/2 ton on 1/2 ton hood with 1/2 ton fenders. ![]() Shows how the 1-1/2 ton fender is raised up but still bolts on the same. ![]() I hope that helps someone and saves a bit of grief. As far as I can tell by looking at the cabs I have the cabs are the same. A guy could use the 1-1/2 ton nose if he did a frame swap and it might work great if he did a swap to a car frame and didn't use running boards and cut the bottom of the fenders off even with the bottom of the doors. |
