Ride Height "Sensors"

here is my problem/question...

I chose manual paddle valves for my air bags, for a cheaper setup, and ive been wondering how I will be adjusting to ride height everytime I air up. Obviously there are some expensive ride height sensors, but i was thinking something cheaper.

My plan is too fabricate something similar to the ride height sensors in which a "normally off" brake switch will be engaged near each bag, once my ride height has been reached (predetermined on flat ground and measured), and then a small indicator light by my gauges will be triggered and let me know im "at ride height" for that particular corner. I will still be inflating myself but i will just have a sort of guide let me know when my truck has reacehed the actual height i have chosen, regardless of psi..

Has anyone ever done something like this, or are there any suggestions as to what im trying to achieve. I just dont want to be cruisin down the street "uneven"

Great idea. I think someone posted that they were working on a similar system some 3-4 months ago.

I have manual setup, but duals to avoid air transfer side to side, and instead of individual control, I set up front, back, all up/down - this works well

The lights will be blinking continuously as you drive and the suspension cycles over bumps... not sure how annoying that would be to you? I like the idea but I'd want to be able to cut the lights off once you're up to height so they're not blinking. Or maybe it's just me, blinking lights have always annoyed me.

Why not just get dual needle gauges and set your height by pressure?

astronaut- i totally thought about that myself because of the general travel and that will definelty be an issue, i agree it might become annoying.

and i currently do have the dual needle gauges, i havent actually rode in it yet, i still have more work to do, but i figured if i determined what the ride height height was based on psi there is no way that would stay constant with changing temperatures, different elevations, passengers, loads in the back etc.. i figured simple "height" would be easier.

but yes the lights would flicker every time the suspension dropped below the switch...seizure lol

For day to day use, the gauges are close enough. I wouldn't go to the extra trouble.

This worked well for me in the '69.
