Re: 235 super charger ?manifold

If it were me I'd use a turbo plus EFI. With the right computer you get a lot of protection if there's a problem under boost.

But that's the type of thing I like to do.

Re: 235 super charger ?manifold

There's quite a few threads on the inliners.org forum about supercharging/turbocharging some of the straight sixes.

If you're serious about doing it, that's where I'd head for tips and recommendations.

yes defiantly ,im thinking be a good winter project ,,,just trying to figure out what style blower it would take or how big you can go on a stock motor , the motor was rebuilt from what i was told but i have never pulled the head off to see , is clean dont smoke or knock and runs real strong ,,..ill check into the inliners forums , always wanted to do the side hood scoop , and like the carbs at an angle

i made this turbo manifold for an 4 banger in an 11 fusion for sema.
this was a very tight install for the turbo and all the intercooler piping
a truck would be easy peasy

Re: 235 super charger ?manifold

i was just wondering is there a difference in a turbo from a gas or diesel ..i know where to get free turbo from a diesel i used to be a mechanic , but not a fabricator , i know i cannot weld good enough to put a exhaust manifold together

Re: 235 super charger ?manifold

No a turbo is a turbo. No difference between one off a diesel and one off a gas motor. SPA already makes a turbo manifold for the 190-292 motors in both a t3 and t4 style. I don't know if these would work on a 216-235. Other than that a clifford 6=8 4 barrel manifold and a blow through carb and viola turbo'd I6. But you would probably need some beefed up internals to handle any sort of power.

Ogre... Wow. Nice work.

True, but wait...
Diesel turbos are not always water cooled.
Diesel turbos are sometimes sized smaller with no wastegate. Max boost is limited by small turbo size.

Best answer, get turbo information and / or vehicle and engine size to figure out just what free is worth.

sure, stop by the house and we'll get right on it.
nobody made a flange for that motor, so i made an ogre brand flange out of 4x3/8 steel.
the motor was so new, we had to get an exhaust gasket straight from ford engineering at the assembly plant.
the bends and tubing were ss 1.5'' sched 5 pipe, it was tight to get everything to fit.
the owner of the shop made this car his summer dd, he says it's a lot of fun to drive.

a turbo would be a lot cheaper to install on a 235 than a supercharger
though you would have to get a blow thru carb or build a box over the carb
lots of room in these trucks to mount the innercooler and run the induction tubing.

Re: 235 super charger ?manifold

i just read a forum on here about a 250 blow threw and he mounted with a j tube off stock exhaust and a offenhauser top to a holley 350 two brl carb , that be the easiest way , not to hard to mount the turbo , i figured you had to have a manifold ,, stock seams to work http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=396373

Here is a video of 235 with TBI setup thought you might be interested. When you add turbo it gets pricey and complicated.

Re: 235 super charger ?manifold

it won't be a high reving motor, 4500 rpm tops without putting some decent internals in it
