Re: Heck of a good start on CL !! AL Area.

I guess the 1% incomplete is the front left marker light. Definitely a good start for the price though.

Re: Heck of a good start on CL !! AL Area.

if he has a transferable registration there should b no problem getting a title in a state that requires a title/// when i moved to florida(a title state) i brought 3 trucks with me from new york(non title state) and there was no problem at all getting a title with the transferable registrations

Looks ok to me ?

That's a trailing arm / coil truck too. For $1k it would be worth a shot at a title. Drop a decent 350 / TH350 in it and some rallys and it would be a $4000-$5000 truck easily. More than that if you do the title legwork.

Just buy it. That's a $2500 truck all day long here without a title.

Re: Heck of a good start on CL !! AL Area.

Definitely looks like a good start. IMO it's worth the price he is asking. Hard to find them short beds anymore, especially from the looks. In person in my show out different. I would try to talk him down if I was buying, but I probably wouldn't pass it up if he wouldn't take a lower offer. Title's are too easy to get.

Re: Heck of a good start on CL !! AL Area.

Guys, all you need is a tag receipt. Something that legally shows this guy has ownership of the truck. Ex. he has the LEGAL right to sell it to you. If he never got a title for it it's likely because he's in a state that doesn't really require or issue them anymore. My question would be has he ever registered it in his name? If that answer is yes, you better snap it up. Take this to the DMV with a notarized bill of sale, and you're good.

Be prepared t ohave a licensed dealer take a look at the truck and appraise it. This is the way the DMV will tax you on it. (on this number) Take pictures of the rust, take pictures of the no motor / trans, etc. Make it look as bad as you can to get the total value (appraised by your friend the dealer) as low as possible.

Talk to your local sherrifs dept. Ask them to run it through their 'Hot List' They will know what you mean. You need to check the VIN on the frame rail, and on the inner door plate. See if it matches. As well as the SPID on the glove box door. Make sure it's an original SWB .. 115 in wheelbase, not 127in

I'm tellin ya.. the bed is worth $500 if it's decent. Again, if I can pull the money together I may look at it too. If you guys beat me to it that's cool, I don't really need another one. I'd just buy it to flip it.

Re: Heck of a good start on CL !! AL Area.

I do some of my own, but I don't have a shop or anything. I am looking at one though. Just not sure it will pan out.

It's a NICE 24x80 shop, three bays with an office and a perfect place in the back for a paint booth. If the economy was better, I would look for trucks like this. Put a motor and trans in them, clean them up with some nice wheels and tires and just park them out front. If you buy them right (like this yellow one) and put say, $1800 is a set of wheels and tires, $800 in a drop kit and 5 lug conversion (OE Disc / drum), $1500 in a good 350, $500 transmission. .. $1000 misc. I'm seeing about $7k investment + your time. And a truck like that ($10-12k range) is still fairly easy to sell around where I live. A lot of people are reverting back to the old trucks.

Sounds like a nice shop ... I agree about the trucks profit wise , just dont
know about enough buyers ? If you get it rolling and want some investors,
holler , I got two long bed 70's and a couple engines and was rolling around
the same ideas , just I dont have the time ...

Yeah, but finding one in the area that it's in, it's hard to find one that isn't half rusted away (makes me wonder if it is bondo slathered or someone invested some time and patch panels before they decided to move on). Yours is a good find and probably more of them in that condition in NM.
