We need a hauling / transport page ...

Ya know , that is one thing we need on this website is a hauling schedule or transport page .. I have seen them on other websites ,it would be to our advantage to start one , that way if someone finds a truck in another state , and needs it transported and someone happens to be coming this way with a trailer it just makes sense to haul a load on the way out ... here is a link to one on a tractor site http://www.ytmag.com/cgi-bin/haulquery.pl
....I have one to be picked up in NC right now....

Re: We need a hauling / transport page ...

I have often thought about using a fire-bucket style of delivery system for these trucks and the heavier parts. Buy one in NY and have someone in Virginia drive it through to the next helper, on down to your front door.

I'm willing to help in OKC. I'll drive anywhere in OK.

Now there used to be a "if you need help here's my info" thread but I think it got closed. It listed people that would be close and willing to give ya a hand in certain states/cities.

could definitely use a truck storch. good idea for a faq/sticky or something like that - i.e. shippers that folks have used and their experience with them (good or bad) along with contact info.

I totally agree, I could have bought 4 rust free six foot fleet side bed sides for $25 each from a guy in Texas but I couldn't get them back to Maine for less than a grand. A relay style transport system would have taken some time but would have worked.

Exactly. If I buy a tailgate or a door I really don't care if it takes a couple of months to get here through trusted hands and saves me 1000 bux in shipping.

Neat idea - I'll be traveling to NC this Christmas in fact - with my car hauler. I'm hauling a tractor up there, but I'll be empty on the trip back to Texas....

Cool Re: We need a hauling / transport page ...

Thats the best suggestion I have heard in a while. I have missed several buys because of the high cost of freight and would gladly use a program like this.

Sticky??

Re: We need a hauling / transport page ...

I had a hood for my truck that a forum member in Southern California bought. We found a guy on Craigslist that was driving an empty truck down there to move his mom back up here, who agreed to haul the hood to the member for $100.

This type of service could have been helpful then, and I could see use for it in the future.

FetchMeAPepsi, If it is the same thread I am thinking about, I think it was for emergencies. If you were traveling, and had a problem, you could contact the admins, and they could look at the list to see who is in your area, that could give you a hand.

I submitted my information to it quite a while back, but don't see it anywhere. Maybe one of the Moderators could confirm that it is still up and active. IF so, I do need to update my information on it!

You should have said something there, I would have gone and gotten them, stored them until you figured something out

It really bugs me that we can't edit our posts after a couple of minutes but that goes for me too. I can store indefinitely here if necessary.

There was a portion of the site for transportation a few years back. It went great guns for a while but ended up not being used enough for it's existance.

In your case, maybe place a post in NC?

Re: We need a hauling / transport page ...

My next door neighbor goes to Elberton GA quite often to pick up stone for his business and he told me he would be willing to transport larger parts for gas money when space allows

Re: We need a hauling / transport page ...

as ET said, the transport section was here, no one used it and complained that they wanted to post in general discussion. It was removed and all those type posts go in general or regional now (user choice)

Contact list was dissolved as well due to many legal reasons. Folks in need can usually post from a phone or such and will get better response.
