Missing RPO Codes

This might be a good question for Keith.

When I purchased my truck the original sticker with the RPO codes was missing. I learned from restoring a few corvettes that the original build sheet typically could be found hidden in the car from assembly in two specific locations. In addition, they could also be ordered from Bowling Green for many of the years.

Was there ever such a practice with these trucks? I was trying to figure out what was original and what was not as a get deeper into my latest project. I read about the packet that could be ordered from GM but it sounds generic and not specific to the build.

If it matters, from the VIN mine was built in the Flint plant.

Thanks,
-David

I think the build sheets could also be found under the bench seat between the springs and foam. You can also order a historical package from the vintage division of GM. With the vin they'll send you a booklet with all the RPO codes. Costs $75 IIRC.

x2

Most of the guys seem to have pretty good success finding it in the seat. Other products stick them in the A pillars, under the dash pad, behind the door trim, etc - but our trucks not so much.

Here's the link for the GM Heritage Center:

http://www.gmmediaarchive.com/

You'll want to order the invoice for your specific truck, based on the VIN. Cost is $50.

You'll get a document back that looks like this -

Re: Missing RPO Codes

My RPO codes are in my head.
Nothing is original on mine anymore.

Re: Missing RPO Codes

more place to look for the build sheets.....under the carpet, above the headliner, inside door panels, above the fuel tank. Most of these are for cars but may work for the trucks too. I left out under the backseat from the list but if it is a crew cab.....maybe.

Agree - those work for cars but typically not for our trucks.

Re: Missing RPO Codes

Mine was also missing the SPID, I got a list of my RPO's from the dealer parts counter. Remember to bring your VIN in with you.
If they look at you funny, try this, ask for a brake rotor. When they ask what brake rpo code you have on the SPID, give them the vin, that may bring up the entire RPO list for your truck when they search it.

Alex.
