Should I buy this blazer?

Well I've kinda been looking at blazers recently and I ran across this. I've never had a blazer so I'm not real sure what to look for. it's a 307 3 speed he says all the 4x4 stuff works but the steering is a little loose. I haven't seen it in person or drove it. what I would like to do is put a nice set of wheels and tires and a small lift and get rid of that nasty purple! what do you guys think and what would you pay for one in this condition?

In my part of the country you might pay $1500 for one in that condition if it runs well.

It's restorable, but you're going to be replacing a lot of rusted metal. Unless you're comfortable with that, I'd keep looking.

Check for rocker box rust, almost guaranteed, and body mounts. Check for cracks in the top and the back hatch (hard to find a nice one used). Steering may have something to dp with the tires. Look to see how much bondo the purple paint is assured to be covering. Whats the asking price?

if the price is right you should. But you will be in for a lot of rust repair like mentioned above. And I am sure there is probably a fair amount of bondo. Worth checking into though.

1400 right now... I think I may keep looking. I really dont need another project but these thing are kinda hard to find around here for a good price. he said the back hatch is cracked and the top was fair but had some stress marks

I wouldnt be suprised if it had 5 gallons of bondo in it

If it runs that is super cheap even if it was bondo filled. You could have more than that in fun

It's hard to find them hard in general IMO. At least around Ks and Mo. The price isn't too bad. If you can get him down to 1k, I wouldn't pass it up. Even $1200. Hopefully it isn't as bad as we think. Even at $1400 I would take it, and get around to it when I could.

My problem isn't finding another project and a decent price. They come and go. My problem is having the money to get it. Have to wait till I get the current done, before the next comes around. Pretty much my wife's rules. Plus, I would be working on both at the same time. Good luck on picking this one up if you choose to.

I know exactly what you're saying. My wife told my son right in front of me the other day, "Did you know that the next vehicle Dad buys is going to be completely finished and in running condition, and not need any work at all?" I guess three projects at once is a bit too much.

The purple Blazer could be a lot of fun for $1400, especially if you don't care too much about fixing everything. For the steering, I'd look at the gear box, rag joint, tie rod ends, and ball joints, probably in that order. When you look at the gear box, make sure you look at the mounting bolts and check for cracks in the frame around the mounting holes as well.

no wife here but I really need to fix my truck first. the balancer decided it didnt wanna stay in one peice and well now my hood has an extra breather hole... so my plan is to take it appart and fix every dint and ding and get it back to show quality and maybe do some suspension upgrades. But I ran accross this and a blazer would be a lot of fun

I haven't had a balancer do that yet. But on my 88 s10 blazer, I replace the water pump when it went bad. The new one from my local parts store back home decided to lock up on me 2 days later, bearings locked up on it. It sounded like a shotgun going off under the hood. The shaft sheered right in the middle. Fan took out the radiator, power steering pump and lines, fan shroud, and cut up the hood pretty good. The worse thing about it was, the parts store didn't want to cover the damages even though they provided me with a defective part. He ordered me a new radiator and said he would cover half the cost. I never paid him cause I didn't feel it was right. He threatened me a couple times, telling me he was going to take it out himself. Telling an old man you have a loaded shot gun for anyone that try's to step on my property puts a little fear into an old man....lol
The dude tried to get me to pay for the 2nd new water pump on top of that!

So, I feel your pain on stuff letting loose under the hood.

Yea it got the water pump, alternator, fuel pump power steering and dented up the hood, drivers fender and both inner finders. pretty bad day to say the least

I would definitely give $1200 for that truck if it runs good. Here in Jersey I saw a guy selling a Blazer with 3 times the rust of that one and he wanted $2500 for it.

Ive seen ones much worse than that, in running condition for $4500 in my neck of the woods... I have no interest in a 4x4, but if it was 2wd, I would buy it, bag it and paint it black.

I haven’t really had any interest in a 4x4 either but my boss and some friends go off roading some and I could have the coolest rig out of the group haha. Plus summer time with no top would be pretty nice. I also just kind of want a dependable back up because my daily is racking up the miles
