Looking at another truck.

i looked at a 84 chev 6 cyl sm465 swb very low optioned, including manual steering and manual brakes. needs a cab corner and paint is bubbling on one box arch. questions are how hard is it to convert to power steering power brakes? i have a 77 1/2 ton parts truck. next question is how much are these trucks worth in the south must be rust free swb and preferably stick. this is not a wtb post just comparing prices to see what is most cost effective.

Re: Looking at another truck.

here in georgia a truck like that would go for an asking price of 1000 to 2000, but a take home price somewhere likely about 700 to 1250 depending how long it was for sale and how dried out the interior/dash/tires etc got...

Re: Looking at another truck.

guy here that imports body parts gave me a rough quote of $2500 for a complete body, and it could be pieced together from several trucks, and interior condition is not guaranteed. how bad are the manual steering brakes? do able for an occasional driver? possible summer daily driver?

Cool Re: Looking at another truck.

Is that in USD or Canadian dollars?

Either way you should be able to find a clean roller in north/central TX for around $1500 US less shipping, unless you plan on dragging it up north yourself. If you have the time or connections finding one won't be difficult, they're almost a dime a dozen upstate.
