must be a ground left turn signal indicator help
so I decided to fix some light issues in my dash today and after an hour its time for a 24 hour break. I had issues with my gauge lights and right side of my speedometer not lighting up also my left turn signal indicator light. once in a while the light would all work 99% of the time the mentioned light would not. I re seated the lights there all working now except the turn signal for the left turn. I can use a tester and it is getting power but it seems it does not have a ground because the bulb which is good will not work. any ideas? my dash is all apart so getting to a hidden ground wire would not be an issue

Re: must be a ground left turn signal indicator help
Check the plug on the top of the column. It solve all of my turn signal problems.

The cluster bulbs have a common printed circuit ground track from one ground connection.
Is the printed circuit ground tab to that bulb good?

im going to check the connections again today but the circut board seems good. I can use a test light cone in from the front a contact either prong on the lift and my test light will flash that's why I was leaning toward a ground issue

Re: must be a ground left turn signal indicator help
I had a couple of terminals back out of the turn signal switch on my '79 as well. It will make you go crazy checking bulbs. You don't have to unplug the connector even, just push the wires up into the connector a little bit.

yeah that's what I will check here im about to say screw it I can see my cluster now in the dark that was 90% of what I wanted to get done. just was horrible I had to put it back together so I could get into work this morning without oil shooting out from where my pressure gauge should be connected. not exactly what I wanted to do at 5am but hey gotta do what you gotta do. I did manage last night to take apart my aftermarket tach and replace the useless clock gugage with it. Its a perfect fit one the the hosting was removed from the tach. the project that started this was to try an improve the flow to the defrost vents. I used silicone on the box to vent connections work great now. so 3 steps forward.
