How hard is it to change my steel bed floor to a wood floor

check out bed wood and parts they have a kit that goes over your steel floor.

You will have to replace the front bed panel as it is different. The bed sides will accept either though. I have done this on my Longhorn. I just had to cut the floor, add a 6" section, and reposition a cross member.

Mar-k makes conversion kits also. You have to change the front panel that bolts to the bedsides and new cross sills also

I thought longhorns already had wood floors. Every one I've seen did.

I'm just going to do a custom one. Mar-k's stuff is awesome, but I use my bed a lot so I'm going to do either a sheet from home depot then cut and router the grooves or I've heard some guys have used fake decking with good results

I'm converting mine now, it's not that difficult but you have to change a lot of stuff to do it right: (as mentioned)

Front bed panel
Rear bed panel (under tailgate)
All cross seals and floor supports
Bed sides and wheel tubs will cross over

Of course your wood and strips.

I bought all my parts off the for sale section of the boards, I gave $300 for the front bed panel, rear bed panel, and cross supports. $90 for inner wheel tubs (good, 95% rust free West Coast metal ) My wheel tubs were all beat up and rusty around the bottom edge. I bought my wood from a local hardwood mill for $170. $75 in the finishing materials .. Cut and finished it myself. Then polished stainless strips and bolts for another $300.

So, you're easily looking at $1,000 just in parts. That's not counting your time or the cost of the materials in paint (should you decide to paint inside the bed)

It's pretty straight forward though, really. Just pretty spendy if you order a kit. If you do it yourself you can save some $$.
