New Member ... and a Q for Experts
Hey, all
I just joined ... looks like a great place to be! I noticed this "thingy" on the side of my '54 Chevy bed roll yesterday ... can anyone tell me what it is? Thanks!! |

Is there one on the other side, if so it may have been from a hard bed cover hinge. What I want to know is what is that 5/16th phillips head bolt for that is just behind it!!! I was taking my bed apart the other day and I dont see any reason for it so out it goes and fill in the hole!

There isn't one on the passenger side ... only on the driver side. BUT I know one guy who has one on BOTH sides! He doesn't have a clue either.
All the bolts are holding it in place. I've posted this on every board I know, and the full consensus I'm getting is that it has to do with the spare tire mount when you side-mount the spare. This is a tough one though ... no one has been SURE about what it is. |
