Breathers vs. PCV Valves
Just wanted to get your guys thoughts on replacing PCV Valves for breathers? Advantages/Disadvantages?

On a race motor just breathers. Street motor you need both. Can't have a PVC without a breather

On a street engine I would run a PCV and either a air cleaner pull line or a fresh air breather with a oil separator in the valve cover. On a street engine I would never go with breathers only, you will end up with an oily mess under the hood. Even the best engines have some blow by and it will come out the valve covers.

Not trying to hyjack, think it's a relative question..
On the subject of pcv's..What causes it to be excessively noisy?? It rattles so loud it sounds like a lifter ticking (3rd one I have tried). Does that mean it's working properly? |
