A/C heater shut off valve??

Anyone know how the heater shut off valve is mounted correctly on a 72 inner fender? I replaced my rusty inner fender years ago, and replaced it with a non a/c truck inner fender. So theres no drilled holes for it. I see that theres pre dimpled dots to drill them, but there on the bottom. I know 72's are mounted on top. This inner fender that I used is from a 70 Gmc. I also would like to know the correct hardware screws for the valve? Pics would be a plus. Thanks!

Question Re: A/C heater shut off valve??

Sorry but I just don't understand. U want correct placement and hardware for the hot water valve on the inner fender but it's a 70 model inner fender on a 72. Correct?

It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: A/C heater shut off valve??

Thanks alot for the diagram. But It still doesn't show the hardware. Would be better if someone post a pic of their 72 truck with their valve installed correctly.

Re: A/C heater shut off valve??

No pics, but the mounting bracket screws are 8" from the fender (vertical sheet metal), and centered on the inner fender -- that is, at its highest point front-to-rear.

Hex head -- black, kinda tall (maybe 1/8" or so). I'll get better measurements in the morning.

Why not just put on the fender and be done with it. It's OK to do this. U have a 70 fender in 72 truck so it's not like your going for 100% correctness. Are u?

Re: A/C heater shut off valve??

It's not the fender im worried about. Just where to drill the holes to mount the valve correctly, thats all. I have a 70 and a 72, and the 70 has the valve mounted on the bottom. Thanks alot for your guy's help, and sorry for all this misunderstanding.

Re: A/C heater shut off valve??

Try this link to a recent thread. Click on the small picture in post #7 to enlarge. This thread was for a big block truck, but I think the mounting is the same for all.

The bolt head looks similar to the one in this pic...

... but has a small 'shoulder' and no washer. The hex head is 3/16" tall and fits a 3/8" socket. The sheet-metal threads are 1/4" x 12 (12 threads per inch) and are 5/8" long including about 1/8" of taper to a point on the end. Hope this helps.

Re: A/C heater shut off valve??

What? No, I wrote 5/8" long, not 8" long.

And the threads are 1/4-12, which means the shaft starts as 1/4" diameter (before threads are formed), and has 12 threads per inch.

The last 1/8" of it tapers to a point, like this:

Edit: Just found a picture -- the screws look like this and are black as I posted earlier. They are 5/8" long and have 1/4-12 thread.
