Steering wheels
I am looking for pics of trucks with old style steering wheels.Either original or old chevelle, caddy ect. I just like the look of the old stuff vs new billet.

Re: Steering wheels
I'm in the process of restoring a 67 SS Chevell wheel now. I got all the cracks filled and plan to start sanding it later today.

Re: Steering wheels
I plan to repaint it. I think it should last a while if done correctly which I hope I'm doing. I never tried before so I'm learning as I go. With a good paint job and clear coat it should be fine though. The picture is after I filed the cracks and filled them with body filler.

Re: Steering wheels
I'm using a Mooneyes 13.5" wheel. If I didn't have PS, I'd be using something a little bigger.

Re: Steering wheels
Thanks -(kinda short version) filed any cracks/crevices on the wheel, the majority of them were all where the outside ring meets the three spokes, used jbweld on the large ones and finished off with a little filler, used just filler on the tiny cracks, sanded, sanded, sanded, sanded - prepped for primer/paint. Painted it at a friends house with duplicolor pre mixed paint/sealer.

Re: Steering wheels
Here's mine. Chevy used these wheels on Chevelles, Monte Carlos even Vegas in the early 70s. Mine has a bowtie in the center not the SS.

Re: Steering wheels
I love the old Chevelle wheels. If I ever find one I will swap out my billet one right away!

Re: Steering wheels
Kind of dark pic, but mine is the stock style, with a later model (80s/early 90s) horn button/cap from a GMC van
