Back on the Road

I thought I would make my first post, been reading this site for quite a while, and really appreciate the knowledgeable people here. This is my '70 that I finally got back to running condition. I have had the truck since about 1984, I bought it from my brother, who bought it in 1979. The engine came out of my '67 Camaro, that I had in high school. Those stickers arent from this decade, by the way! Thats how long she's been down. Feels good to be drivin it around again, lots of good memories there.

Later, Scott

Welcome from Northern California. Looks like your engine has all the right goodies on it.

Re: Back on the Road

I rebuilt the engine in the mid 80's, and drove it a couple of years. I milled the head, put a bigger cam in it, offy with a 390 holley, headers, mallory ignition, etc. Had a four speed saginaw in it then too. It ate the cam once and had to replace it with a stocker, since it was my daily driver, at the time. I tore it apart in '89 for a complete redo, then my Camaro got stolen two weeks before my marriage date, so I slapped it back together and drove it till 2000. Its been sitting every since. Started it up every couple of years, if I had time. Bad news is at some point I let it freeze - craaack, slighty seeps, but still runnin! Tough little engines!

Re: Back on the Road

Great story. Wow I was born in 1984. Awesome truck and love the I6 with a passion. Got one in my truck but not as cool as yours.
