So I bit the bullet and bought what I thought were decent set of buddys online that had minor rust. When I got them home and started to remove the seat covers I had opened a can of worms. The seat frames in the back were practically rusted all the way through. I am now kicking my self for buying these.

But here is my question should I see if I could attempt rebuild these by cutting the welds and rebuild these or should I cut my losses and part them out? Has anyone tried to fix the seat frames? Good news these seats have both the fold down backs which are still in good shape so removing them is ok and the rest of the brackets and frames and center console seat are in good shape. I also have access to a small machine shop at my work.

What can it hurt to try and fix them into a good useable set of seats.
Thats what owning these old trucks is all about bringing em back from the brink. And take before and after pics of the seats so you can show how you saved them with your work handy work, then sit back in them and take that east ride down the road smiling all the way.

i agree fix them up make them look like new. it sguys like this that rebuild our trucks which help keep them alive if we all threw away or parted out anything with signs of rust or problems we wouldnt have as many of these trucks

savem hell you payed for'em allready if you can fix the rust it'll be worth it in the end.
the nice thing is any metal work will be covered so it dont have to be perfect like body work and only you and all of us will know

I would also say to try to fix them cut the rust out and build a new frame for them.

Good point everyone I think my OCD was detering me from fixing them. But they will be covered so its not big of a deal if their not 100% original metal. Ill post pictures of updates of the repair in a new thread if you are all interested.
