Brake lights not working

Hopefully someone can help me, I have a 64 chevy k10 and just replaced the steering column with an ididit steering column. after getting everything back together the brake lights did not work. The turn signals work and the 4 way flashers work, but no brake lights. Today i picked up a new brake light switch and still no brake lights. where do i go from here?

Re: Brake lights not working

Check for power at the terminals ( brake light switch, rear harness at the firewall behind ds head, tail light plug) in this order.

Re: Brake lights not working

Just got a new brake light switch and it seems to be operating fine. Could it be the flasher?

Re: Brake lights not working

The flasher has nothing to do with the brake lights. The orange wire at the brake light switch should have 12V at all times. The white wire coming off the switch should have 12V with pedal depressed, sending power thru the turn signal switch. With the pedal depressed, and power on the white wire, check the yellow and green wires at the turn signal harness connector. Check both sides of the connector, in case a terminal is not completely seating in the plug in. If all three are hot with the pedal pushed, then follow from there towards the back. My guess would be the T/S switch or connector. if all was working before and the column is the only thing that changed, then the problem is there.
Occasionally, on some types of turn signal switches, if the hazard switch is on(4 way flashers) the brake lights will not work.
