Question lost my brake lights

So left for work this morning and noticed I had no brake lights so I turned around and went back home and switched trucks.
Anyway I have checked the fuse (good) and the brake light switch (also good) and the rear bulbs (good again) and am running out of ideas (and day light lol).
I have all my turn signals, I also have front hazards but do Not have rear hazard lights (but have rear blinkers?) I swapped the blink fuse ( the round deal lol) with the one for the hazards and made no difference at all. All my fuses or good.
I allways thought if you had blinkers you would have brake light, but having. Rear blinkers but no brake lights and no rear hazards kind has me stump at this point.

Any ideas/thoughts.......

Re: lost my brake lights

doubt there is a ground problem if signals are working
i'd check the brow wire running the length of the left frame rail and see if there is a break in it

when you checked the brake light switch did you check for power coming out of it? if you have power out that switch you either have badbad connction at firewall plug the plug just in front of drivers rear wheel or the wire itself

Re: lost my brake lights

,Ok i check the plug at the fire wall and I dont have a a light on any wires, so where does the wire go after it leaves the brake light switch? I have power after the switch but not at the plug going threw the fire wall. Also what color is the brake light wire? Brown one. I also dont have any hazard lights at that plug just blinkers and lights.

Re: lost my brake lights

Any body got a guess.. fuse block bad? Does the wire from the brake light switch run back into the fuse box.?

Going to to try to chase it down tomorrow some more.

Re: lost my brake lights

Not sure if you fixed this yet, but I changed my turn signal switch and it fixed my brake light issue. Your brake lights go through that switch so that it can interrupt the signal to the turn signal that you have on, when no signal is on, the circuit to both brake lights is complete. I still havent figured out why my hazard lights aren't working tho.

Re: lost my brake lights

The right taillight housing on mine was rusted badly so I had brake light on all the time but all other lights worked normally. Took it off and wired brushed the back reassembled and it started working.

Re: lost my brake lights

It's been over two months since your last post on it but BigcountryX's response was spot on.

The white wire from the brake light switch runs to the turn signal switch. There are contacts inside the switch that direct the power from the brake light switch through the turn signal switch to the stop/turn lights.

You do have a stock column and turn signal switch?

Did you ever get it fixed?
