Smile Don't get scammed at the pumps!

... Here in canada I pump 10 litres and the pump should read what the gas sign reads with the decimal point over one place. if gas is $1.20 then ten litres should cost $12.00 ect..... good thing to watch

Re: Don't get scammed at the pumps!

Was filling my truck and when full the dollar amount kept going, I thought I was seeing things so I pulled the trigger again and the dollar amount started going again with no fuel being dispensed. I went back inside and after a heated argument [ and two potential customers walking out the door ] I was given $3.00 back. BEWARE, it is happening all over.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Don't get scammed at the pumps!

Missouri has trucks thru the dept of agriculture that goes around to the pumps on very regular basis and checks the pumps and cerifies them.

here in Virginia they check the weights and measures every 2 years but there is so much money to make and so small fines if you get caught.

WOW 2.94 a Gal. I wish. we`re almost $4 a gal in New York, 4.27 for premium.
The 4 cents your lossing is the hose filling up with fuel, which you empty by holding the nozzle open after the pump turned off.

Re: Don't get scammed at the pumps!

The bigger problem we have here is stations charging you credit prices when you pay cash, its easy not to notice unless your aware it happens.

Legitimate or not, scam or not, I can't see myself going into the station and confronting the manager over four cents.

Just my 2 cents...

Re: Don't get scammed at the pumps!

We use gift card for gas. We buy them from our kids school to raise money for the school and reduce tuition.
When we use them at the pump, the pump stops when the card is used up, but sometimes it will stop 15 - 25 cents short of the amount remaining on the card. You can then manually pump to the last cent.
So , if you use gift cards at the pump, make sure to manually squeeze out the last few cents from those cards before tossing them.

I wouldn't doubt it at all that it's on purpose...

Not really true. At least not here in the US.
Look closer at the price on the sign. If you see the price posted as, for example; $3.50 it's actually $3.509 if you'll look closely at the sign again. Something that started way back when gas was 20 CENTS a gallon as a marketing tool to fool the consumer into thinking the price was 20c but if you looked close there was a 9/10 after the 20. Just like when you buy something at Wal-Mart for $4.99, it sounds a lot cheaper than $5.00

Re: Don't get scammed at the pumps!

Just filled up the wife's mustang... 2.95 at the palms on 29!

I normally don't pay attention anymore. I just fill up the work truck a few times a week... I don't even pay attention to the total, it goes on a company card.

The great state of California is pulling the biggest scam of all on everyone who lives here - gas is $4.50 a gallon.

I've noticed it going down also, I've been telling my wife all summer when it was so high that it would go down DRASTICALLY the first week of November. Watch for it to start rising again Wednesday or Thursday.

Hmmmmm, that happened last week, surely we'd be seeing higher prices at the pump by now, if that was a reason?
