Upper Control Arm Bushings
What do I need to know about replacing the upper control arm bushings and crossmember on the front of a 71 2WD?
Are those shims going to go everywhere when I unbolt the crossmember? |

Re: Upper Control Arm Bushings
Just take a socket and long extension and loosen the two nuts a turn or so, then grab the shim pack and pull it out from each stud. Keep them separate so you can put the proper shims pack back onto the proper stud when you go back together with it.

Re: Upper Control Arm Bushings
Ok thanks. And by the looks of it I don't even need to compress the coil spring do I?

Re: Upper Control Arm Bushings
Not at all. Just put a jack or jackstand under the lower arm to keep pressure on the lower arm.
