electric cooling fan ??'s
thinking of using an electric cooling fan on my 70' when i'm going back together.
what is everyone using??? i will be running a 350 and probally a 3 core radiator. yes, cost is a factor....... just wanted to know what works for everyone else, what size fans everyone is using and if there is a certain cfm that i need to look for.. thanks tommie |

Obviously, the higher CFM the better. Some numbers that I've seen are like 70% core coverage for a fan without a shroud, which with the rectangular shape of ours you would be better off running two.
I know Classic Heartbeat sells a setup that might be what you are looking for. http://www.classicheartbeat.com/cata...assemblies.htm The question I'd have is what's wrong with the mechanical fan and a shroud? I realize it free's up horsepower, but it also puts demand on your electrical system. I like electric fans, so don't get me wrong, I went through the same thing as you when I dropped my engine in, mainly because of space with my serpentine setup. Found out that a big block shroud would work with the stock fan. A few dollars latter and I'm running the stock fan from the '98.

I too have returned to the stock fan after trying electrics on my 68. I only have an aftermarket cooler on the trans and am concerned about tranny temp. If the cooler was in the rad then it is probably ok. I had the electrics running from a thermostat so they did not run all the time. Tranny temp seemed to be very hot. I dont want to ruin the 700r4.
