Oil blowing out of the dip stick

Tried the search and could have sworn I have seen the posts before but couldn't find anything.

The 82' I'm having a problem with oil blowing out of the dip stick tube. It only happens when you drive it .

Re: Oil blowing out of the dip stick

sounds to me like you have alot of crankcase pressure, it could be a bunch of things but i would start with new PCV valves, if that doesnt remidy your situation it could possibly be bad pistons rings causing blow by

With the engine running at idle speed, pull the pcv valve out of the the valve cover and stick your finger over the hole on the bottom of it. You should feel vacuum sucking your finger and hear the little check ball rattle within the valve if you shake it.

Re: Oil blowing out of the dip stick

Well see I knew that, but the PCV valve shakes and I feel vacuum. The PCV is old, so I'm gonna change it, just kept forgetting it and when this guy drove it the other day and brought it back he said something about it. I'm gonna go ahead and change it. Also there is a breather tube on the other side that goes to the bottom of the air breather.

As far as the pistons being bad causing blow by, it doesn't smoke only a puff when you first take off, probably bad valve seals

Bad valve seals usually won't build up crankcase pressure like that. I would do a compression check after you replace the pcv.

Re: Oil blowing out of the dip stick

I know the bad seals won't do it, I was just referring to the smoke on start up
