how to clean a poorly prepped dashpad...LOOK!
I'm helping a friend with his 86K20 truck and we are restoring the interior back to original-among my collection of truck parts is another dashpad which was originally grey but was poorly painted black-I doubt it was even SEM quality dye since it has a way too shiny surface to begin with. Assuming it was poorly prepped, I was betting a trip to the carwash using the pressure washer would blast the paint off without damaging the dash-and it worked flawlessly! The truck should be Dark Maple inside and I don't have that color dash but I suggested we strip on of my previously painted ones and see if we can dye it correctly-this is a cheaper alternative and the dash is actually crack-free. I was laughing as he began "washing" the dash....in the pics you can see the nice grey factory finish under the crappy black paint.
