Picked up a new C10
Well my dad did, traded a 55 Chevy on it but he doesn't have much interest in trucks so I'll be the one spending most of the time behind the wheel of this one. It's a keeper for sure
Here are a couple of pics from the show we saw it at over the weekend. I'll take some more when I get off work. I'm normally not a big fan of a late model bed but this one pulls it off pretty well. Disc brakes, power steering, ac, all that good jazz. Warmed over 350, nothing crazy. Firewall has been smoothed and most all the wires hidden. Lots of custom stuff on the inside. Its a 69. Check her out! |

Nice truck,I've never been a fan of it either but it sometimes looks cool depending on the theme of the truck.

Re: Picked up a new C10
Looks good to me. It is a pretty good custom job putting the later model year bed on. We put one on a '67 and it is not as easy as some would think.

Re: Picked up a new C10
Did your dad trade a 55 chevy car or truck for it? I'd have a hard time letting a 55 chevy go!
There's a 57 truck parked next to it (or is that your dad's 55 with a 57 clip on it?) I really like that green color.

Re: Picked up a new C10
55 Chevy car. We had bought the car to sell anyway so it wasn't really a keeper. We've got a lot of money in the truck but its done 100% right, plus it will probably never go anywhere.

I'm not a huge fan of the later bed either but that one looks pretty damn nice! The color is subtle enough that it looks like it belongs. Very cool.

Re: Picked up a new C10
Nice truck - late model beds on early trucks is hard to pull off but this truck does a pretty good job, everything on it is so nice that if you ever wanted to you could swap a period correct bed back on.

Re: Picked up a new C10
I'm sure I'm missing something here, but why are there two shifters on the floor of a 2 wheel drive truck? One is trans, and the other?

Re: Picked up a new C10
All right, me and the wife took her to dinner tonight, man is this thing smooth!
Defiantly doesn't drive like a truck, not sure if I mentioned it above but its got a Camaro front clip under it. Plenty of power, nothing crazy but its a cruiser. It's got a 700R4 tranny in it which will be great for road trips. Digital dash looks awesome after dark. Gotta get the speedo working right though, it reads way out of site, fuel gauge doesn't work either but that is small issues, plenty of time this winter to get that buttoned up. I'm not super crazy about the seats, they are comfortable, they just sit at the wrong angle or something, plus I can't get them back far enough to be really comfortable, have to drive with the wheel tilted all the way up and kinda spread out but its not so bad once you get used to it. Another thing the headlights defiantly need an upgrade, alot of it is the stance of the truck but I couldn't see crap tonight on the way home. Anyway enough jabber, on to the pictures! I had some more but I can't get them to upload right now. I'll take some real pictures this weekend. |

Re: Picked up a new C10
E-brake. I know its part of the Lokar shifter set up for street rods, but I'm not sure if they put it in for any reason in particular or just because it came with the shifter? Maybe just wanted to clean up the interior and loose the pedal? Original pedal wouldn't work with the car rear end?(Rear end is out of a camaro too) Not 100% sure.

Re: Picked up a new C10
Nice looking truck.I don't normally like the newer bed but that one does do it pretty well.I think the only thing you could do better on the bed is raise it up so the body line at the step is even with the one on the cab.Even that doesn't stand out on yours like it does on some.
Too bad the seats don't sit well for you,the interior looks nice.

Re: Picked up a new C10
Inwould be more
Of a fan of the late model bed if it weren't for the fact that the stock 72 front wheel well was round and the later bed has a squared off wheel well. I wonder how much work would be involved in reshaping the fiberglass to a round wheel well like the front (?) Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Picked up a new C10
I think there's nothing to say about the job ...
but I'm not fan of mixing different years ; base is a 67-72, recent bed, 55-59 custom dash board, seats from what ? For me it's too much, but it's your choice, enjoy !!!

Seats are out of an 03-04 Mach 1 Mustang, center console is a 05-07ish Super Duty Ford Truck item.
