That would be perfect truck for the 'walking dead' guys to get around in. If anyone watches the show you'll know what I mean lol.

Lol, that does appear to be a quite long section of the splined slip shaft portion of the driveshaft.

Re: Ultimate survival truck! C70!!

Only thing is imo, in an event where that truck is needed, you don't want to be driving around cause then you're just a big target. Driving around in running into lots of people who want to take all that from you. Hunker down on some heavily treed land somewhere in the shelter you built. I think I'd spend the survival money on that first.

I like that desert tan paint job! I have been considering painting my old C20 work truck in desert tan.

Thanks for posting

Re: Ultimate survival truck! C70!!

Nice truck, but that description is full of BS. Price between $100,000 and $600,000? Yeah right, he started with a $4,000 truck.

"he's received more interest from military and law enforcement agencies mulling a rolling command center"
LOL! I think the military can do a lot better than that, and they don't need this guy's help. As if they've never thought of the idea before...

You can set my truck on fire and roll it down a hill,
and I still wouldn't trade it for a Coupe de Ville.

Eh, not really. As an offroad machine, sure the Unimog wins hands down, but the Mog doesn't have living quarters, fresh water, bullet proof shielding, generator, etc. so it wouldn't be much of a survival vehicle. Although it would make a much better choice to bug out to your hideout.

America is a big country. I could happily get lost in that Mog or a Hummer H1.
This was my toy for six years- 1953 Daimler Ferret MKI

Demilled Bren and smoke grenade launchers. My youngster and I used to take it out driving once a month. (Antique tags). Not as useful as my Stepside, but cool.

Re: Ultimate survival truck! C70!!

Better options available:
Bobbed 6x6 Deuce. http://www.biglerboyz.com/bobbing_your_truck
British Army Saxon. http://gsho.info/uk/equip.php?ID=216
Call Pat Egan at Khaki Corps if you want a Saxon, Ferret or...
http://www.khakicorpsimports.com/cat-wheel-saxon.htm

We got lots of attention in the Ferret. To the point of having people follow us home to take photos and ask questions. Not cool since I used to travel a lot. I am sure by the tone of the original ad that Sgt. Rock does indeed get a lot of attention from various govt agencies. We thought of ourselves as custodians of history, not preppers. Good luck with that. Got a great set of tools and an understanding wife, but a real military unit has an immense support staff, spares and HD transporter for the inevitable breakdown.

Thanks for the info! Guy up the street from me has a Duece and its a lot of fun. I've never seen a Saxon before, but wow... Just wow!

Got the idea for a Sarecen because there was one for sale up north of LA that caught my eye.

A buddy of mine messed around with armor for a museum. He said the biggest thing is how heavy everything is. You need a fork truck to do basic maintenance.

Re: Ultimate survival truck! C70!!

I actually have a couple of cracks in my garage and driveway that would otherwise not be there. If I had property to play around on I would get the Bobbed Deuce or find a Mog. I held onto my CVC helmets and coveralls in case I ever go the military vehicle route again. Ex border patrol H1 went for a fair price on fleabay not long ago. Tempting.
Got to choose which side of the fence your on. Met some interesting folks at an military vehicle show in Aberdeen, MD a few years back. Everything from jeeps to tanks, families to fascists. Neo-Nazis selling WWII patches and knick knacks out of a half track was the biggest eye opener. Or the nut bag with the period correct British army uniform and swagger stick who couldn't break out of character long enough to answer an intercomm question from a fellow Ferret owner. Takes all kinds.
The guy I bought the Ferret from also had a completely disassembled 1953 army jeep, all metal blasted and primed, bags full of parts. Too crippled up with arthritis to reassemble what he started. Real shame. That would have been a challenge.

Its like

Seriously? You didn't see the trim, Early? Its pretty much had it.

That show cracks me up. So much subtle humor that you have to read between the lines to get. Its also a big social commentary, especially on how lousy law enforcement really is. And how much they just pander to criminals. See the one where they were arguing about how good the picture quality was going to be for the inmates locked up in the county? "Blueray Denny, dam it!" While there was a big hole in the back of the cell where all the criminals had escaped.

ROFL!!
