Re: Front Disc brake and no booster

I don't have any pics that can top that but I am running disc in the front, drums in the back with no booster and the original style MC. It works great, not overly firm but just right. I do have a manual trans which helps, as I can push the clutch in and am not having to overcome the torque converter.

Nice pic!

Re: Front Disc brake and no booster

These are the only photos I have back when I was running front disc brakes and no booster. I was running a 350/350 back then. After a couple of years my back couldn’t take the pressure any longer and I had to install a booster. Manual brakes are fine for a regular healthy person, but not so hot for someone with missing spinal discs.

The prop valve reduces pressure to the rear brakes, which require less force than the fronts. Which will keep back brakes from locking up. I believe you can run without one....but I would want some type of metering valve to keep things equal.

Re: Front Disc brake and no booster

Im fixing to run this set up on my 63. Disc up front non-booster and drum rear. Im running a pretty radical cam in my 427 BBC and didnt want any vacuum issues. Dont have p/s or i would have gone w/a hydrobooster. I do have the prop valve assembly though to help w/the rear brakes.

Re: Front Disc brake and no booster

I installed the factory 1975 prop valve on mine ever since the front disc brakes were added. I mounted it below the engine on the front crossmember to keep the area near the booster clear. Here's a rather ugly picture that shows the location below the left engine mount:
