More Questions from OZ

Hey guys me again!!

I have a couple more questions.

A) Ive decided to fit my new sbc to my 58 Fleetside and use the 235ci engine for the 49 4400. Now the 4400 has already had sbc mounts welded into it. I have ordered a new set for the 58 but what should I do to mount the 235 in the 49 4400 now? Is there a mount for the 235 available aftermarket??

B) Is there a set dimension for mounting the sbc mounts on a stock chassis? I thought i remember a thread talking about this but I cant seem to find it.

C) I have a photo of the stock wheels, besides the factory hubcap is there something I can fit to dress these wheels up? I am having trouble finding a good selection of 6 lug wheels here in australia. I like the Streeter wheels but they seem to only be 5 lug.

D) I am removing the factory seat frame from the 49 4400 as I am fitting bucket seats. Is there a "Right" way to remove this frame or just a grinder?

Thanks again I always appreciate any help I can get.

Shane

Re: More Questions from OZ

Maybe the best thing is for one of the guys with either a stock V8 truck or a truck with a V8 in the stock position to take some photos and measurements to show you exactly where a stock V8 engine sits.
If you are running an automatic you will want to use side mount. The thing a lot of guys do is use the style of tube crossmember that Meter Swinger showed in the first link in post #2. I've used several of those in swaps and they work well in trucks. You probably have a local source for them without paying shipping from the US and waiting for the slow boat to show up too.
