Interesting finds

Just wanted to hear some stories or pics of strange stuff you guys have found cleaning out old your old trucks. I found a old ladies watch stuck in the old ripped seat of my Gmc and about 1.75 in change. Not much here but sure some of you have found some strange or valuable things.

Friend of mine (deceased) ran a "House note" car lot. He bought repo's from the bank every now and then. He said he had never bought one (a repo) that didn't have money in it, somewhere. The '76 Gentleman Jim GMC he bought in '79, had almost $10 scattered in it.

There were dozens of bolts, nuts, nails and other hardware under the seat of my truck. I also found a couple of green stamps.

Those stamps are neat! I found a receipt under my door sill from 95'... Looks like he needed some groceries! Also a pencil and about .75 cents in change. Nothing to cool but I still use the pencil in my tool box. Lol

Mine came with a decent set of jumper cables under the bench seat. No wonder the battery crapped out on me a week after I bought the truck lol.

The most valuable thing I ever found was a St Christopher medal pin stuck above the rear view mirror ! This was back in the 70's , Since I found it , It has been with me in every vehicle I drive ! Not one accident to date, It save me last month when a big buck deer ran out in front of me ! At the last moment he turned and ran along side my drivers window , jumped hit the door with his shoulder and bounced off. He never missed a stride ! Ran off on to the shoulder , looked back at me and I swear he said under his breath "boy was that close" ! Best little item I ever found and I will never let it out of my life.......PS: after I got home I checked the car for damage, not a scratch, just a little hair stuck in side view mirror ?

My father and grandfather owned and operated a paint and body shop (towing service) for over 40+ years until they sold out in the late 80's. My dad pulled in a 79 Grand prix and it wound up sitting there and know-one ever came and got it so when they started going through it my dad found a 1 karat diamond ring in it and my mother still has it today.

$5.83, a spotlight you plug into the cigarette lighter, a 6-ton bottle jack, a couple of gloves ( not a matching pair) and enough other miscellaneous crap to fill a 50-gallon trash can half way. And that was just under the seat!

Now that I think of it I did buy a set of visors off a guy one time and it had several pins in it.. One of the pins was a gold cross. Now that is in my Colorado. I knew there was another thread on this floating around somewhere but I figured some new people could post their stories. I wasn't trying to steal anyones thunder.

Not my truck but a Monte I bought to use the engine in my 67.I found a Bank bag under the seat with about $250 in semi rare coins,around $300 in Tourquise jewelry,and misc.I paid a whopping $250 for the Monte,sold the tranny and trunk for $100 and drove the car for 18 months before pulling the engine and running it for about 5 years in the 67 Panel.Every body panel on that Monte was trashed,even tho it was only about 4 years old at the time.The trunk lid was the only thing salvageablle.It was a loaded up car also.The brakes got so bad it wouldn't stop safely and I had the Sunroof open to get in and out.The doors were too trashed to open and the power windows wouldn't roll dup.I woud just walk up the trunk,over the top and drop into the seat.It was easier then leaning in the window and jacking with the tilt column to get room enough to get in.

I can't remember everything but there is alot, one of the funniest thing I found was one of those magnet key hiding holders under the dash that had 4 joints rolled up in it. One truck had $35 worth of change under the seat. Its always fun when I pull a seat out to see whats there, once I found a black snake, I left that truck at the golf course for 6 months before I parted it out, I HATE snakes

one truck i had i found a bunch of live .22 rounds that had fallen down the vents in the dash and made their way into the heater box, as well as under the seat, same truck i found enough straw under the seat to make a bale, a cig pack from the early 70's, hat and some other junk

another truck i had i actually found a .22 rifle tucked up under the seat not sure how long it was there, i called the guy i got the truck from and it wasnt his and he owned the truck for quite a few years

and the usual loose change in other vehicles, oh i found a bag of grass tucked in the back seat of a cop car when i worked at a detail shop lol

When I got the 70 I was cleaning all the crap out and found a brand new in package heater/defrost control switch and it just so happened my 69 needed one.

Ive always wondered what I would do if something like that happened to me. Call the police, or dispose of the contraband?

I think I would just get rid of the stuff. Id hate to have the police impound my new ride and possibly never see it again.

My first truck was given to me by my father in law. While pulling the dash pad off a few years later, I found one of his old pay stubs. From 1983. 126.00 for one week. He worked at a sawmill. He worked his butt off for that. I posted a pic but you probably can't see it very well.

A few years ago I bought truck real cheap for the tranny. I had a car hauler guy pick it up. He said he had to fight all the chickens to put it in neutral. that truck was nasty. I sold the rest of it.

I've found some bullets and old match books but that's about it. A guy I buy parts from told me to always look under the seat before you buy a truck cause he has found two handguns and a rifle under the seats of different trucks he has purchased over the years.
