I mounted mine to the passenger side frame rail behind the front tire. It is a SS drop down battery box.

I agree like above, in the stock location.

We replaced the stock battery box with a SS drop down box................... but when we put the running boards on it will not drop low enough to remove the battery.
I bet that is why you moved your box forward !!!!!

I replaced the floors in my cab and I'm not running the stock frame. Mine is also on bags so this was the only place where I could hide it and still have access to it. I actually had to trim the top of the battery box some so that I could tuck it up high enough without it hitting the cab.

Re: Where is your AD battery

Batteries much larger than the stock six volt won't fit very well in the stock location and are often hard to get in or out.
I've had one on the firewall at one time and hated it. Ugly zit taking up room in the engine compartment that sometimes lets corrosive stuff drip on the nice new valve covers. Ok for a farm truck where you need easy access to the battery but not ok on a custom truck that you show with the hood open.

This time around I'm planning to put a wooden tool box looking box at the front of the bed made of the same wood as the floor. It will hold the battery on one side and tools and other truck supplies on the other. That isn't for everyone I full and well know but I don't want the battery under the floor or in the engine compartment.

nice touch, i have a 7up cooler from the 50's that I'm going to mount in my bed, has a lock on it and plenty of room for a few tools.

I am putting mine under bed just behind cab pass side, will use a race car disconect so you dont have problem shorting when removing, also have remote battery access under hood for jumping or timming light

Re: Where is your AD battery

the plow truck I had, it was on the firewall/inner fender, was easy to get at but didn't look the best, when I get a new one I will put it on the firewall also as I am not going for cosmetics.
