On my 87' the fan does not blow on HIGH. Blows on low, and mediums, but stops when switched to HIGH

Re: Blower motor

I had this same problem, turned out to be the black ground wire under the hood from the blower motor to the firewall.

Re: Blower motor

Low speeds go through the resistor. It's fine.
High speed goes through the relay. Replace it. I replaced mine about a month ago. $7
If the fuse blows after installing it, you'll have to open the relay. Later models have a resistor built in. I had to cut the resistor out so it would not blow fuses.

It's November and I'm still driving around with the A/C at full blast!!

Im in the Fort worth area. But yeah when on max, mine does the same thing. It will run for a little while on max fan, but then just shut off. I'll replace that relay as well. Where exactly is that one located? Just right there with all the rest?

Also my blower motor doesn't move a whole lot of air even on max. I'm going to do that mod where you replace the blower motor with one out of a 94 pickup. They move a lot more air supposedly.

Re: Blower motor

Mine is also does not blow much out of the vents but I think mine has something to do with that flap. I can feel the air out of the floor vets even then the selector is on MAX AC

Re: Blower motor

The A/C relay is behind the accumulator. In this pic, it's right above the low pressure switch. http://good-times.webshots.com/photo...54440533aYRkDg
It's painted black. The new one will be shiny "aluminum". Check the wiring. Since full voltage goes through it on max air, wires have a tendancy to burn up. Corrosion is also a problem.

Next a fan cuts off, wiggle the wires at the relay. If it comes on and off, the wiring is bad. A stock fan, with all the vents properly open by vaccuum, will blow a lot of air in the cab. I can hear air going to the vents in my truck.
