I am wanting to get rid of my rusty lug nuts and center caps on my 70. Does anyone have a good source for said items? The center caps look to be 3.25" in diameter and the lug nuts have 1/2 RHT on them. Any help finding a good source for these would be appreciated. I converted over to Five lug rims so I only need 20 lug nuts and 4 center caps of course.

This is what I bought. McGard guarantees them against rusting.

I bought a set of new caps from Gorilla www.gorilla-auto.com. There was no guarantee, but a good coat of wax should keep the rust away.

Most auto parts stores have the chrome lug nuts. Check Summit's website for center caps.

LMC has center caps for about $5 each. Thats the cheapest I have found online. I want to do the same thing to my black wheels for now. Chrome centers and lug nuts.

A tire store hat sells aftermarket wheels can get you stainless lug nuts and stainless or aluminum centers. You can find cheap stuff online but you can't measure it or test fit it.

I was thinking about maybe using these. They seem to be the right size, they are stainless, and they would make my rims look more expensive than they really are.

You just have to make sure they are an exact fit...or figure on,if they are a bit larger,enlarging your center hole. No,I don't think that's expensive

I am going to take a rim off tonight and mesure the center hole with my calipers to make sure they will fit.

If the hole is barley too small could I use a hone in a drill on aluminum?

I measured the inside diameter of my rims with a tape measure, I can't find my calipers or I would have used them. It measured out to be 3 and 5/16. That equals 3.3125" right?

So the American racing caps I am looking at getting that have an outside dimension of 3.27" should work right?

Yep sounds right to me. Pretty darn close anyways as long as you measured accurately with your tape.

That Gorilla site is cool.

I've been using their lug nuts, didn't know they had caps too.

I prefer the center caps with the flange that goes over the wheel studs, between the hub and rim. This provides a tight fit. Those "push through" style can sometimes rattle if not tight to the rim.

To keep the push through style from ratteling; I put 3 small dabs of clear silicone on the outside of the cap just where it meets the wheel center flange.
Can't see it if you don't use much, once installed.
Works as both an adhesive and a bufffer.
Easy to clean up when you replace them.

Yup... I've always just gone down to the local tire store. They've always had what I've needed. Or they were able to order some in for me if they didn't have them on the shelf.
