ls4 bolt up to a 700r4?
hey guys, found a 5.3 ls4 out of a 08 lmpala cheap. But what I have read the bellhousing is metric. I have a 700r4 from a v-8, not a s-10. Can you guys shed some light on this if it will bolt up to my 700r4 or I need to go with a lq4 5.3 motor that I know will bolt up .THANKS

Re: ls4 bolt up to a 700r4?
Ls4's use shorter cranks, and different front engine pieces to get them to fit into the front wheel drive cars. thats why its cheap they are harder to get to work in a rear wheel vehicle because of the way the front of the engine, and crank are configured. As far as I'm concerned only the heads are really worth anything. Just my opinion however.

Re: ls4 bolt up to a 700r4?
Your existing 700R4 will not work.
A 60 degree bellhousing 245mm 700R4 from a 2.8/3.4 S10/Camaro will bolt up. Dealing with a TV cable on a LS engine is ridiculous. A 60 degree bellhousing 245mm 4L60E from a 2.8/3.4 S10/Camaro will bolt up. 93-95 4L60E,s are not electronically compatible. The best trans for this will be a 98-02 3.8L Camaro 245mm 4L60E, It will need to be built to 298/300mm V8/Big V6 specs.....5 forward clutches vs 4, 6 3-4 clutches vs 5, Though 8 3-4 clutch frictions is a minimum in my opinion. |
