project Daisycutter update.....the rear's done...well, almost

Finally got the 12 bolt back from the shop, where I had a new Eaton posi unit, 3.73 Richmonds, seals, etc installed. Painted it with POR-15. Was able to re-assemble the rear suspension over the weekend. Used the ECE 6" drop coils (had them powder-coated silver), ECE super trac bar kit, KYB drop shocks, and installed the boxed (ECE kit) trailing arms. Man it's nice to use all new hardware and bolts when reassembling everything.
I still need to put the rear brakes together and run the rear brake lines.
Now to clean/paint the front half of the frame and do the front suspension/steering.

How much POR-15 did you use to do the back half? and what condition was your frame in? I mean was it rusty, rough, sanded, etc?

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

That does look good. Are you going to put in a c-notch or does it need one? I know with a 7 in drop you have to have one or it hits the bumpstops.

Thanks, guys.
I've used only 3/4's of a quart of the POR-15 black to do 1/2 the frame, the rear end, the trailing arms, the front upper and lower control arms, drag link, and the power steering box. This stuff goes a long way. I bought 2 quarts to do the whole truck, and I'll probably have some left over.
As far as frame prep, I power blasted it at the car wash, scraped off any stubborn crap (not much), sprayed it down with a couple of cans off EZ-OFF oven cleaner, hosed that off, then used the POR-15 prep stuff, MARINE CLEAN and METAL-PREP. I didn't sand it at all.
I was going to do a c-notch, but when I ordered all the stuff from ECE, they told me I didn't need to, so I didn't.
Now to get the front half done.

What benefit do you get by boxing the trailing arms?I've heard of this but didn't know what it does.

lookin good, I see you welded the gap on the control arms over with a plate, what are your plans for this project?

I would like a high HP truck, I'm kinda worried about the control arms on mine but I do not want to go backwards on my project and strip the rearend back down.

Yeah, I figured I might as well box the arms while I had them out just to add a little protection for the twist from the big block with a little spray. Going to stroke it to 496 and add a 200 horse shot of the laughing gas. I wonder what's going to bend/break first?

good lord, sounds like a mean setup.

I dunno what I'm gonna do engine wise, I've been saying 383 since day 1 of this project but.. I just love the sound of a big block so much I dunno if I can stand to go small hehe

I THINK it will be a 383/th350 or a th400 setup, but I may wind up with a 502/th400 or 700r4 or even a T56 setup.. depending on how much the speed demon inside me encourages me lol

can't wait to see some more progress on yer truck
