Possible trade opinions please.
Well I've always wanted to lower my truck but having a 3/4 wasnt in my favor. I may have a chance to change that tomorrow. I'm meeting with a guy who has a 72 C10, a rebuilt 350 with cam and headers, th350 trans, all in running order. It has bucket seats and some fiberglass repairs on the rocker panel, and a small power steering leak. He has it listed for $5,000 or trade.
Now onto my truck, its a 72 C20, rebuilt 350 but still stock (no power mods), sm465 granny low 4 speed, runs like a champ. Original bench seat, in pretty decent condition. PB, no PS, decent paint job, but the bed is in rough shape. Very very little rust I told him I want a half ton to lower, and he said he has actually wanted to put bigger tires on his truck so maybe we could help eachother out. I only paid 1600 for mine, so if I can pull off this trade I'll be quite happy. What are yalls opinions? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Possible trade opinions please.
I see newer bucket seats, bedliner, and missing chrome. It looks like you are looking at someone elses personalized project. If you like all of the mods that were done then that's great but I would choose a bone stock truck over a truck with 70's spinner center caps and newer buckets any day. It's all in what you like tho. And just cause he's asking 5000 for his truck doesn't mean it's worth that. And I'd say you got a great deal on your truck so I would say the value of either is subjected to the opinion of the owner. It's your money and your truck, therefor it's ultimately your opinion. If it were me I'd rather have the originality of your truck
And fiberglass can be a huge mess to deal with so make sure you take a magnet to the entire body of that thing and see what you're getting into first. Also check the SPID for original options, can be a major factor in the value of the truck

Do you have Leaf springs in the rear? My 3/4 ton has trailing arms and sits pretty low with bags.

Yes I will be bringing a magnet with me. And the bedliner has been taken out and the bed has been lainted to match the rest of the truck.
And yes, I have leaf springs in the rear. Posted via Mobile Device |

I'd just change springs, spindles, and axles. Bang - you got a half ton. No surprises.
Most people to save ride quality will change spindles anyway, upgrade to bags for versatility, that just leaves axles, and I believe you could get the whole diff on cl for $100. |

Re: Possible trade opinions please.
Man, your truck looks a lot sharper to me. I would do some suspension work before I traded. That other truck looks like it may have had some substandard work done to it. I know i can't say from the one pic, but it looks like the type. Plus, its still a longbed (nothing wrong with that, but it means it ain't worth a premium, either). Good luck anyway with whatever you decide, and you know everybody on here will chime in and help with whatever project you choose.

Just from what i see i would NOT trade your C-20. It sits nicer, and you know what you got body wise. Just change a few things and lower it!

Keep yours is my vote. It looks to be in the best shape of the two.

Re: Possible trade opinions please.
Well we met and I said no. Seeing the bucket seats, fancy center console, power steering (yuck!), and the bad attempts at fixing rust, it all just made me realize how good of a truck I have, and like it even more. Glad with the outcome.
